Canton Real Estate
As the county seat of Cherokee County, Canton has a long tradition of providing a wonderful, close-knit community even as the city is experiencing unprecedented growth and prosperity. As the fastest growing city in Georgia, Canton now boasts nearly 22,000 residents who have found that contributing to the success of the community is as rewarding as living here.
These days, restoration and growth are common themes in Canton and can be detected in nearly every corner of the city. Millions in dollars in grants have helped to improve sidewalks, added lamp posts and landscaping so that Downtown Canton is perfect for walking to one of the many new businesses and boutiques that have joined the already exciting shopping and dining opportunities located there. Among the notable examples of Canton’s efforts to preserve its rich past is the restoration of the Historic Canton Theatre, which since as early as 1911 presented silent movies. Following a recent and remarkable restoration, the theatre now brings Broadway productions to Canton in one of the most amazing settings. With public buses transporting thousands of passengers from their homes in residential areas to Downtown Canton, other shopping areas, medical facilities and elsewhere, it seems Canton is experiencing a Renaissance of its own.
Finding a great restaurant in Canton presents only one problem—deciding what you are in the mood for. Canton’s restaurants feature everything from fine dining to fast food. Whether you want to spice things up at a fantastic Mexican restaurant, grab some delicious Chinese to go, enjoy an incredibly prepared steak, or have a nice breakfast before heading out to Lake Allatoona for a day on the water boating, you can find exactly what you crave in Canton. Shopping in Canton provides just as many establishments to explore as restaurants. From small boutique stores to large retailers, Canton’s reputation as the commercial hub of Cherokee County is well-deserved.
Canton’s parks have received new additions in recent years as the growth continued. In 2004, Heritage Park was opened to provide 30 acres of trails and a natural amphitheater where the city holds free concerts and movies in the summer. Heritage Park was only the first phase of the Etowah River Greenway program, which adds another 60 acres of parkland for recreational sports fields for baseball, softball and soccer and adding baseball and tennis courts, too. Right beside Heritage Park, residents can now enjoy an $8 million community center on Waleska Street that includes a gymnasium, aerobics studio, indoor swimming pool, wellness center and much more.
